Re: New European Tour Dates Announced
New, news on Madonna coming down under!
IT'S looking increasingly unlikely that Madonna will tour Australia in September, as the global financial crisis bites.
Australian promoters are trying to lure the Material Girl back to Australia as part of an extension of her European Sticky And Sweet tour.
There was speculation early in the year that Madonna was heading Down Under, but according to Arthur Fogel, who oversees the tour, the reports were wrong.
Another source from concert promoter Live Nation said the reports were "imaginary".
Madonna was set to tour Australia in January this year, but cancelled when the global financial crisis set in.
The tour was to be presented by Michael Coppel.
Madonna was coming to Australia, the dates were organised, then, according to a source, "economics got in the way".
This year was set to be a big one for international acts, but many tours have since been put on hold because of the economic climate.
Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney, The Eagles, Green Day and Metallica are just some of the acts that have postponed tours.
"It's unknown territory at the moment," tour promoter Michael Chugg said.
"A lot of tours went on sale before the dollar crashed.
"We are only starting to see the effect of the economy on the tour industry."

Apparently Britney Spears is bringing her tour down under and Madonna is going to have a special appearance in it where they both sing a duet together.
